Juan Rulfo (Sayula, Jalisco, May 16, 1918 - Mexico City, January 71986), writer, screenwriter and Mexican photographer, belonging to the generation of 52. Rulfo's reputation rests on two small books: El llano en llamas, comprising seventeen short stories and published in 1953, and the novel Pedro Páramo, published in1955.

Been considered one of the most prominent Spanish-language writers of this period, together with Jorge Luis Borges, a survey by the Alfaguara publishing.

Among1926and 1929 he experiences several episodes of the Cristero rebellion. In 1953 achieved the first edition of El llano en llamas. The novel Pedro Páramo, Written in 1955, is considered by critics one of the masterpieces of world literature.
